President Obama announced on Monday that he will sign an executive order that bans discrimination against transgender employees in the federal government.

The announcement follows Obama’s disclosure earlier this month that he will sign an executive order banning federal contractors from discriminating based on sexual orientation or gender identity, report the Washington Post and Politico.

Federal employees are already protected from discrimination based on sexual orientation as a result of an executive order signed by President Clinton, according to the Human Rights Campaign.
