Some of London’s biggest and best-known law firms are signaling their intention to establish a higher-profile presence in the U.S. legal market.

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has sent two partners and three associates into the firm’s New York office from international locations, reports New York Lawyer (reg. req.), reprinting a Legal Week story.

They are: Brian King, a dispute resolution partner who has moved from the Freshfields office in Amsterdam with three associates, and Julian Pritchard, a corporate partner who previously worked in the firm’s Tokyo office.

Meanwhile, Cliffford Chance and Allen & Overy have also recently added to their respective U.S. attorney rosters.

As discussed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post, Clifford Chance has lured four partners from Sidley Austin’s office in Washington, D.C.

And Allen & Overy has raided Chicago-based rival Mayer Brown Row & Maw of two New York partners, according to an earlier New York Lawyer (sub. req.) article, which reprints a New York Law Journal story.

They are: Mark S. Wojciechowski, who will head his new firm’s North American leveraged finance practice and Andrew Mattei, who will also practice in that group as a partner. Wojciechowski , a Mayer Brown partner since 1988, was a member of his now-former firm’s executive committee.
