Unhappy with $50 parking ticket, man rants on YouTube, is charged and jailed in lieu of $150K bond
Unhappy with what happened when he contested a $50 parking ticket issued by the city of Chicago, a suburban man posted an 11-minute rant on YouTube in which he urges viewers to blow up the building in which administrative hearings are held and attack hearing officers and parking meter enforcement personnel, prosecutors say.
“You better check your car every time you come out,” says the man in the video at one point, referring to a hearing officer by name. That officer was the one who heard Michael Dixon’s parking ticket case, and on Wednesday authorities arrested Dixon at his Country Club Hills home, contending that he is the man in the video posted on YouTube, reports the Red Eye in an article reprinted in the Chicago Tribune.
The 40-year-old was charged with threatening a public official. At a Thursday court hearing he was ordered held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
The Red Eye article doesn’t include any comment from Dixon or his legal counsel.
