Federal officials announced this week that they are offering a $3 million bounty for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Evgeniy Bogachev, a Russian national believed to be somewhere in his home country.

The reward by the State Department and the FBI is the highest ever offered in a cybersecurity case, according to the Los Angeles Times (sub. req.) and Reuters.

He is accused of masterminding the GameOver Zeus botnet that took over thousands of computers worldwide, gathering bank account numbers and passwords that enabled those involved in the scheme to steal as much as $100 million.
