Warner, Smith & Harris to Close Doors After 124 Years
A steady stream of attorney departures in recent years has led to the planned closing July 31 of a prestigious 124-year-old Arkansas law firm.
Warner Smith & Harris made a business decision to cease operation in an orderly manner and will be able to pay all of its bills and make sure all legal matters are properly handled, managing partner Alan Wooten told the City Wire. He has been with the firm for 36 years.
The firm, which is headquartered in Fort Smith, had 18 lawyers in 2008 but saw its attorney roster reduced in recent months to what the newspaper describes as “less than a handful.”
Among those exiting was corporate rainmaker P.K. Holmes III, who was confirmed in February as a federal district court judge for the Western District of Arkansas.
Wooten plans to work in the Fayetteville office of Connor & Winters, starting in August.
