The partner in charge of Weil, Gotshal & Manges in Houston says he can’t remember the last time he saw so many resumés from high-quality job seekers.
John Strasburger told Texas Lawyer's Tex Parte Blog that he used to see a couple resumés a week from lawyers. But in the past month, the number has skyrocketed. Now the law firm is getting a couple resumés each day.
Most are from “very talented lawyers at very quality firms,” he said. Weil Gotshal may hire a couple, but it won’t be “going on a crazy hiring spree.”
A job hunting law grad in San Francisco is experiencing the glut of job seekers from the other side. Sarah Gilson told Reuters that one law firm put a hiring notice on her school’s bulletin board, but pulled it in just a few hours after receiving 400 applications.
"You're not even getting reply e-mails thanking you for your application because so many people are looking for work that firms can't process them," she told the wire service.
