Which dream jobs aren't so dreamy? 'Lawyer' makes the list

U.S. News has developed a list of five dream jobs that aren’t so dreamy, and ranked “lawyer” No. 4.
U.S. News notes that lawyers have to make it through three years of law school and a “daunting” bar exam. “Also, keep in mind that the market for lawyers is not expected to boom over the next decade,” the report says. “Job growth for the profession is expected to reach only 6.9 percent by 2020, which is lower than other occupations.”
The story says the average salary for lawyers in 2012 was $130,880, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. But 2012 law grads had average debt of $108,293.
Above the Law notes the story, and points out that lawyer is No. 35 on a U.S. News ranking of the 100 best jobs.
The first three occupations on the not-so-dreamy list are actor, professional athlete and musician. Fifth is doctor. “It’s apparently much worse to be a musician, a professional athlete, or an actor,” Above the Law says, “because not everyone can be famous and make a lot of money. On the other hand, ANYONE can be a lawyer these days, and we’ve got a glutted job market to show for it.”
