Which law firms are top-ranked by associates? Paul Hastings leads the list of best places to work
Paul Hastings is the best law firm to work for, according to a quality of life survey completed by nearly 17,000 associates.
The Vault survey asked associates to rate their law firms on a 1-to-10 scale in more than a dozen categories, including satisfaction, culture, compensation, hours, training and substantive work, according to the Careerist and Vault’s blog. Paul Hastings won overall and in the hours category. It was also among the top 10 “in a slew of other categories,” the Vault blog says.
Vault used a weighted formula of selected individual categories to determine the overall best law firms to work for. The top 10 are:

2) Ropes & Gray
3) Williams & Connolly
4) Irell & Manella
5) Gibson Dunn & Crutcher
6) Foley Hoag
7) Patton Boggs
8) Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler
9) Fish & Richardson
10) Baker Donelson
No. 2 firm Ropes & Gray ranked first in formal training and had top 10 rankings in nine different categories. Williams & Connolly topped seven categories: satisfaction, culture, substantive work, career outlook, business outlook, associate/partner relations, and selectivity in hiring.
