The law firms with the most satisfied summer associates are Foley Hoag and Boston-based Choate Hall & Stewart, according to new survey results.

Both law firms received a perfect 5 based on associate ratings in nine areas, the American Lawyer (sub. req.) reports. More than 3,600 associates responded to the publication’s survey, which included questions about the interest level of their work, how much “real” work they were assigned, and whether their interactions with lawyers were positive.

Weekly gross pay for the responding associates averaged $3,156.

The top-rated firms were:

  • Choate, Hall & Stewart; Foley Hoag (tied for first)
  • Clifford Chance; Schulte Roth & Zabel (tied for third)
  • Kaye Scholer (in fifth place)

Even the bottom-ranked firm, Chadbourne & Parke, received an overall score of 4.231 on a 1-to-5 scale, the story says. The firm’s lowest score—3.75—was in the partner interactions category; it was also the lowest score given to any law firm in a survey category. The firm’s highest score—4.67—was in the associates relations category, according to an American Lawyer chart (sub. req.).
