Which Law Schools Do Law Firms Prefer? Harvard Is No. 1, New Survey Shows
Harvard beats Yale in a new law school ranking that is based solely on a survey of the people who oversee hiring at their law firms.
The survey by U.S. News & World Report was sent to 750 recruiters and hiring partners at law firms named in 2010 Best Law Firms, which is jointly produced by U.S. News and Best Lawyers. The respondents were asked to rank schools on a 1-to-5 scale, with five being outstanding and one being marginal. Fourteen percent provided answers.
Here are the law schools in the top eight spots:
1) Harvard University
2) Stanford University and Yale University (a tie)
4) Columbia University and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (a tie)
6) New York University and the University of Virginia (a tie)
8) Cornell University, Duke University, Northwestern University, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of Chicago (a tie)
