Why date a lawyer? You might get some free legal pads and your parents will be impressed, according to a matchmaking website.
Above the Law has fun with eHarmony’s “15 reasons to date a lawyer.”
No. 1 on eHarmony’s list: 1. “Quoting your date will make you sound smarter: ‘My boyfriend is a lawyer and he says…’ ” Above the Law questions that assertion. “I found a typo already,” ATL says. “Replace ‘smarter’ with ‘like an a–hole.’ ”
Above the Law is also quick to point out an error with reason No. 4: “Lawyers are financially secure.” According to ATL, the claim “glosses over the whole ‘terminally in debt’ thing.”
Then there is reason No. 12: “Your date will have interesting law-school stories (and lots of life experience).” Above the Law offers such a story: “One day I got called on in Civ Pro and I had to talk about International Shoe for 10 minutes.”
EHarmony has chronicled 15 reasons to date people in several professions, including farmers (they’re not afraid to put down roots) and pharmacists (their lab coats are smart and sexy).
