Fresh from a recent victory in his representation of R. Kelly in a child pornography case, “courtroom bulldog” Ed Genson explained yesterday why he is taking on the governor of Illinois as his latest client.
“I take the cases that are fun,” Genson told the New York Times.
Genson “came out swinging” Thursday at an Illinois legislative committee hearing into possible impeachment, calling the process "unfair and quite frankly illegal,” ABAJournal.com reported.
The Times said Genson’s attack on the committee’s impartiality is a strategy similar to one he would use to disqualify a member of a jury. The story said his delivery was "antagonistic, personal and also a little meandering (because of age, he said) in making his main point: The impeachment process is not fair."
