Caitlin Wallace made a pledge when she was running for president of the Federalist Society at the University of Wyoming.

Wallace vowed she would try to get big-name speakers to appear on campus. After getting the position, she wrote to Justices Clarence Thomas and Antonin Scalia, and received a positive response from one of them. Scalia will be speaking on Thursday at UW, the Laramie Boomerang reports.

Wallace tells the Boomerang that her success is “probably the first time in history a campaign promise has been kept.” She is thrilled that Scalia accepted. “You know, what Justin Bieber is to teen pop is what Justice Scalia is to law students,” she told the Boomerang.

Wallace showed the Boomerang the letter she wrote to Scalia. “While many children grow up naming sports stars or singers as their personal heroes, those of us in the University of Wyoming Federalist Society named justices of the United States Supreme Court as ours,” Wallace wrote in a portion of the letter. “Although we may have been teased while on the playground for our choice in heroes, we certainly stand heads above the rest as members of this distinguished Federalist Society. It would be an honor and a privilege to host you at our university.”

Justice Elena Kagan revealed in a speech on Friday that she is also traveling to Wyoming where she will be hunting with Scalia. “I’m hoping to bag myself an antelope,” she said.
