Wilson Sonsini cuts about 35 secretarial positions
Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati has restructured its legal support services, a move that eliminated about 35 secretarial positions, mostly in its office in Palo Alto, Calif.
The Am Law Daily (reg. req.) obtained a copy of the memo (PDF) announcing the layoffs. The affected secretaries will receive “separation pay and the appropriate support services,” the memo says.
“We cannot stress enough that this action is no reflection on the abilities of our legal support staff,” the memo concludes. “They are simply the best in the business—but, unfortunately, the job and the industry have changed, and we must make some changes to more efficiently serve our internal constituency and clients, and better position the firm for the future.”
