The chief executive officer of a Silicon Valley legal powerhouse firm is stepping down and will be replaced by two senior partners working together to do the job.

Douglas Clark, a member of the policy committee at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and John T. Sheridan, who heads the firm’s business law department, will replace Steven E. Bochner in about a month, the firm announced today.

“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served as CEO,” said Bochner in a press release. “But working with clients always has been my passion and I felt that the time was right to return to full-time practice.” He had been at the helm of Wilson Sonsini since 2009.

Clark, a litigation partner who specializes in securities matters, headed the firm’s litigation practice for six years.
