Wis. Gov's Unlicensed Chief Counsel Resigns After GOP Objects
An unlicensed attorney who served as a senior advisor to the Democratic governor of Wisconsin and was known as his chief legal counsel resigned in a terse letter dated Friday, after a Republican group objected to the situation, reports the Wisconsin State Journal.
“Chandra Miller Fienen has voluntarily tendered her resignation. She realizes that she has placed this office in a difficult position,” said Lee Sensenbrenner, a spokesman for Gov. Jim Doyle, in a written statement.
Fienen’s father, a Democratic lawmaker who co-chairs the state senate’s budget committee, said on Friday that Fienen had passed the Wisconsin bar exam “within the last year,” according to the newspaper.
Sensenbrenner also says Fienen passed the Wisconsin bar exam, but was not licensed for reasons that are not explained. reports the Associated Press.
