A Wisconsin lawyer accused of stealing $542,000 in unclaimed funds failed to show up for a court appearance on Monday.

Brookfield lawyer Thomas Bielinski was scheduled to enter a guilty plea in the case, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Proof & Hearsay blog reports. He was accused of stealing the money by falsely claiming to represent clients entitled to surplus funds in Milwaukee County after their homes were sold at foreclosure sales.

Judge J.D. Watts issued an arrest warrant after Bielinski could not be located by the end of the day.
