The legal services sector lost 2,400 jobs in November, eliminating job gains for the year.

The legal services sector had 1,135,700 jobs in November, down from 1,138,100 jobs in October and 1,135,800 jobs in November 2017. That’s a loss of 100 jobs since the same time a year ago. The American Lawyer has coverage.

The numbers, released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, are seasonally adjusted and revised. The October jobs total remained the same, but the revised numbers changed the total for September to 1,137,900 jobs, which represented a gain of 1,400 jobs from the prior month.

The year’s high-water mark was in June, when the sector had 1,139,500 jobs.

The legal services sector includes not only lawyers but also secretaries, paralegals and other law-related workers.
