Time spent in a Florida bond court hearing on Thursday turned out to be more entertaining than expected for those in attendance.

Held on charges of resisting arrest and violating a protective order in a domestic case concerning her ex-husband, defendant Dolores Sheinis, 80, was at no loss for words, according to NBC 6 South Florida, WFLA and WTVJ.

“I don’t tip anybody. I make them banana bread and chocolate pudding pie. I make a mean chili,” she told Broward Judge John Hurley at one point.

“I gotta tell you, you brighten my day ma’am,” he responded.

Sheinis insisted that she had done nothing wrong prior to her arrest. Noting that she has no criminal record, Hurley ordered her to wear an ankle monitor and told her to stay away from her ex.

“I don’t particularly feel like keeping an 80-year-old woman in the jail who has no criminal record, but this is your second warning: Don’t go around him again,” Hurley told her.

“I haven’t bothered him for 31 years, why would I bother him now?” Sheinis said. “I swear to God and all that’s holy on a stack of bibles, I will never go near him, talk to him, call him or even look at him.”

Has she ever considered a career as a stand-up comedian, the judge wondered aloud.

“If you pay me good money, sweetheart, I’ll be there. I’m really short of funds,” Sheinis replied.

“So far, how have I done as a judge today?” Hurley asked her towards the end of the hearing.

“Not bad, but you could do better,” Sheinis responded.

A video of the hearing can be seen on YouTube.
