W&M Law Dean Says His Students Were Not Actually Banned from Hotel After SBA Party
The dean of William & Mary law school says his students have not been banned from a Virginia hotel.
An email dispatched by the Student Bar Association last month said students would not be allowed to return to the Crowne Plaza Williamsburg at Fort Magruder hotel because of inappropriate behavior at an event called “Fall from Grace,” the Virginia Gazette reports. Above the Law posted the email, which said hotel staffers discovered students urinating on the bathroom floor, breaking a toilet paper dispenser and knocking over a flower pot. “This is the third time over the past few years that the law school has been banned from a local facility and the second time in less than seven months,” the email read.
Law dean Davison Douglas tells the Virginia Gazette that the law students “were not kicked out of the hotel, and in fact they would be invited back.” The problems, he said, were caused mainly by two individuals. “Their behavior was completely unacceptable and not representative of our student body as a whole,” Douglas said.
About $300 was paid to the hotel to cover damages, the Gazette says.
