About 180 alumni of the dissolved law firm WolfBlock are gathering today for a holiday party in Philadelphia’s Park Hyatt.

The aim is to socialize with old friends and to provide networking opportunities for those still without jobs, the Legal Intelligencer reports.

Former WolfBlock executive committee member Jonathan Segal told the Intelligencer that about third of those who will be attending are jobless or underemployed. Partners voted to dissolve the law firm in March. About 60 staff members and 10 or fewer lawyers still have not found new positions, Segal said.

Segal said some “extraordinarily gifted people” are without jobs—including members of the human resources staff—because they were busy helping others find work.

The cost of the party is about $30 a person, but donations by former WolfBlock lawyers and staffers will cover the fee for those who can’t afford it, the story says. Money left over will be used to buy grocery store gift cards for those who are still out of work.

Former WolfBlock staffers Caroline Fellman and MaryAnn Hall helped solicit the donations and track down alumni. “This is what family does,” Fellman told the Intelligencer. “They help each other in bad times.”
