Worker who robbed bank of $565K in fake-bomb scenario now faces new charge over disability claim
There’s new trouble for a California woman already sentenced to nine years for conspiring with her boyfriend to rob a Los Angeles bank of $565,500 by pretending to be kidnapped and strapped to a fake bomb.
Aurora Barrera is now facing a fraud charge over a related disability claim. Prosecutors in the Los Angeles County case say Barrera, an assistant manager at the bank at the time, claimed to have suffered post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the September 2012 robbery and collected $35,000 in workers’ compensation benefits, the Associated Press reports.
She could get as much as five years if she is convicted in the fraud case.
