A federal courthouse renovation worker got two and a half years behind bars Thursday when he was sentenced by a federal judge for stealing.

Joshua Ryan Dorman, 22, took cash from a magistrate’s purse and a gun from a locked office one day last July after he was hired to work at the Eastern District of Texas in Texarkana, reports the Associated Press and Texarkana Gazette (reg. req.). An earlier Associated Press story provides additional details.

Dorman was also ordered to pay restitution of $593.56.
