Despite the reports of a downturn in work at some big law firms, most midlevel associates surveyed are not seeing reductions in their workloads.

In an American Lawyer survey of more than 7,500 associates, only 23.5 percent said their workload was lighter this year than last, the Am Law Daily reports. About 34 percent said their workload was heavier and about 42 percent said it was the same.

Other survey highlights released today found that associate satisfaction with compensation increased by only 1 percent even as firms outside of New York rushed to match each other in associate pay.
