A personal physician for a professional wrestler who recently committed a double murder-suicide was charged today in a federal drug probe.

Phil Astin is accused of having improperly dispensed painkillers and other drugs, in a case that began after wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and their 7-year-old son were found dead in the family’s home near Atlanta, reports AP.

Federal drug agents have been investigating whether Astin improperly prescribed testosterone and other drugs to Benoit, and a separate death investigation is being conducted by state prosecutors and sheriff’s officials. However, authorities said soon after the bodies were discovered on June 26 that Benoit killed his wife and son before committing suicide, as reported by ABAJournal.com.
