Strolling down a British sidewalk, an unknown middle-aged woman spots a gray tabby cat, looks around, pets it, looks around again—and then picks up the cat by the scruff of its neck, drops it into a trash bin and shuts the lid. Then she calmly continues on her walk, according to a videotape posted on Facebook and YouTube.

The cat, named Lola, spent 15 hours in the bin before it was found by its owners, Darryl and Stephanie Andrews-Mann, reports the Sun.

They posted the video, which was taken by the closed-circuit television camera they installed to keep an eye on the front of their home, on Facebook and YouTube in the hope of identifying the culprit.

“I really want to find the woman who did this to her, she must be stopped,” says Stephanie Andrews-Mann, 24, of the apparent cat-dumper. Lola was reported to be physically fine after the ordeal.

West Midlands Police and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals are now investigating.
