Asbestos Doc, Now a Defendant, Is Missing

An asbestos doctor accused in a lawsuit of manufacturing asbestos claims is missing, according to the company that is suing him.
The suit by CSX Transportation Corp. claims West Virginia radiologist Ray Harron helped manufacture asbestos claims for the railroad’s employees, the New York Times reports. The complaint alleges Harron worked in concert with Pittsburgh law firm Peirce, Raimond & Coulter, which denies the accusations.
Court papers filed by the railroad company in late October say Harron can’t be found for service of legal papers. CSX says it fears Harron has fled the United States.
Harron has written reports for more than 88,000 people in asbestos cases and charged $125 for each one, the Times says.
Harron’s lawyers told the newspaper that Harron has not fled. One lawyer told the Times that Harron is being treated periodically for cancer in Houston.
