The chairman of Deacons' Sydney office, Nick Abrahams, plans to spend the night in the open next week as part of his firm's effort to raise money for homeless programs.

Abrahams will be among some 200 other senior executives and business leaders taking part in CEO Sleepout to benefit the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Abrahams and his fellow campers will eat soup for dinner and be given a sheet of cardboard to sleep on, The New Lawyer reports. The fundraiser takes place June 18 at Sydney's Luna Park.

"People have been great donating money and so forth. But there have been some jokes around: 'Look at how the global financial crisis has impacted Nick ... Help chip in some funds for him'," he told the legal publication.

Other lawyers noted on the CEO Sleepout site include Anthony Morrissey, a partner of Hunt & Hunt, and solicitor David Hall.
