Backup Saved Bar Exam Answers

A backup system preserved the essays of those who ran into software glitches when they tried to upload answers to the New York bar exam.
Douglas M. Winneg, president of the company that made the exam software, told the New York Law Journal that he believes all the essays have been recovered. He said there are 100 essays that were never uploaded, but that may be because the test-takers did not want their answers graded. Others on the list of 100 opted to turn in written essays instead of using their laptops, bar examiners said.
Winneg also acknowledged that some test-takers in Georgia also experienced software problems. He apologized (PDF) on the Web site of his company, Software Secure Inc.
