UPDATED: A federal grand jury in San Francisco has indicted baseball superstar Barry Bonds on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice.
This comes at the end of a four-year federal investigation into whether Bonds lied under oath to a grand jury probing steroid use by athletes, the Associated Press is reporting.
The 43-year-old former San Francisco Giant recently became baseball's career home run leader, passing Hank Aaron for the title. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that Bonds was indicted (PDF) for allegedly making false statements to the grand jury that was investigating the BALCO steroids distribution ring.
