At least 23 well-known law firms are opting into a new membership program offered by the Project for Attorney Retention. An initiative of the Center for WorkLife Law at the University of California's Hastings College of the Law, the project promotes work-life balance and the advancement of women in the profession as means of helping law firms avoid unwanted attorney attrition.

PAR has done several studies on part-time work by attorneys in law firms and corporate law departments, and plans to start a new study next month of part-time law firm partners. New law firm members of the project include Arnold & Porter; Fulbright & Jaworski; and Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal, according to a press release. It says more law firms are expected to join the initial 23 members soon.

More information is available on PAR's Web site.
