Chicago Lawyer Dies After Florida Triathalon

A 48-year-old partner at a well-known Chicago law firm died this week after being discovered unconscious during the swimming portion of a Florida triathalon on Sunday.
An autopsy is being performed, but local police in St. Petersburg said the death of Juli Wilson Marshall is likely to be classified as an accidental drowning, reports the AP. A relative earlier told the St. Petersburg Times that her nose had been broken, suggesting that another triathalon participant might have kicked her in the face during the swim.
Marshall was married, with four children, and worked for Latham & Watkins, where she was co-chair of the firm's products liability and mass torts practice group, according to the firm's Web site. She worked in the firm's Los Angeles headquarters for a decade before moving to the Chicago office in the mid-1990s.
Ernest J. Getto, a Los Angeles partner who formerly chaired the firm's litigation department, worked with Marshall for more than 20 years. "She was a superstar from the get-go," he says.
