CIA Destroyed 92 Interrogation Videotapes

Federal prosecutors have revealed the CIA destroyed 92 videotapes of its interrogations of terrorism suspects.
Prosecutors investigating the destruction gave the count to a Manhattan federal court hearing a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union, the New York Times reports. The story says the tapes are believed to have shown harsh techniques, including waterboarding.
The number of destroyed tapes is far greater than previously believed, according to the Wall Street Journal. A government official told the newspaper the 92 tapes represent all of the interrogation videos recorded by the CIA.
The ACLU is asking U.S. District Judge Heller Alvin Hellerstein to hold the CIA in contempt for withholding the information, reports The BLT: The Blog of Legal Times.
The prosecutor investigating the destruction, John Durham, is close to concluding his probe, the Wall Street Journal says.
