The economic downturn has eliminated another 20 jobs at the New York offices of Clifford Chance.

The London-based megafirm has let 20 support staff there go, after laying off 24 transactional associates in New York City last month, reports Legal Week.

Clifford Chance also cut 20 litigation associates in its U.S. operations in October, and laid off 35 support staff in December.

"The U.S. practice could face further changes," the legal publication writes, "as CC is currently undergoing a global partnership restructuring which will see a reduction of its firmwide ranks by up much as 15 percent."
