A 30-year-old Colorado lawyer died almost immediately after she was shot in the head by her ex-husband last week.

Boulder officials said today that Katelin "Katie" Oakley, who once worked at Davis Graham & Stubbs, was apparently lured by Robert Bryant Oakley to his home there on April 1. He murdered her with a 9mm handgun before committing suicide with a shotgun, reports the Denver Post.

Both guns had been legally purchased by Robert Oakley, 39. A stay-at-home father, he taught school as a substitute in recent years and had been driving a cab to help make ends meet when he couldn't find a full-time teaching job. Katie Oakley had moved to Golden, Colo., about a year ago.

She was a 2004 graduate of Duke University School of Law. The couple had two sons, born in 2003 and 2006, who were not home when their parents died.
