Updated: In a stunning raid on a rival firm, Dechert announced today that it is opening a new office in Russia with all five of the partners from Chadbourne & Parke's office in Moscow.

But Chadbourne is fighting back, and contends that the partners aren't necessarily leaving its Moscow office after all, reports the Am Law Daily. "Discussions with the partners continue and the final outcome is not yet certain," says Charlie O'Neill, the managing partner of Chadbourne, in a written statement provided to the law blog.

(At last report, the Chadbourne firm said on May 14 that two of the five Moscow partners are staying, as discussed in a subsequent ABAJournal.com post.)

In a press release earlier today, Dechert announced that it will be opening a new Moscow office in June with the five partners.

The office will be the 19th for the more than 900-attorney Philadelphia-based international firm, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal. Last year, Dechert opened new outposts in Beijing and Hong Kong.
