A rapidly expanding Detroit-based law firm has just added another office to its roster.

Clark Hill has opened in Scottsdale, Ariz., on the outskirts of Phoenix, by acquiring 10-attorney Norling Kolsrud Sifferman & Davis, according to Crain's Detroit Business and a Clark Hill press release.

The not-quite-200-lawyer firm opened new offices in Grand Rapids, Mich., in 2006, in Chicago in 2007 and in Washington, D.C., in 2008. It also has offices in Birmingham, Mich., and Lansing, Mich.

John Hern, Clark Hill's chief executive, says the firm's strategy is, as the business publication puts it, "to expand into cities where its clients have a presence, and to acquire new clients where it can."

The Arizona merger took effect Jan. 1.
