Disbarred Georgia Attorney Now Breaking Into Cars, Cops Say

Disbarred several years ago, a Georgia attorney has allegedly turned to a new line of work—automobile break-ins.

Police in Alpharetta, Ga., say Phillip Strickland, 38, is responsible for a five-county car break-in spree, and plan to charge him with "a slew" of felony theft counts, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. They allegedly found some $50,000 worth of laptop computers, other electronic devices and jewelry in his car, as well as has credit cards and identification, after stopping him early Tuesday morning in a well-to-do Fulton County neighborhood in which a number of car break-ins had recently been reported.

Meanwhile, Strickland is facing a narcotics possession charge, according to the newspaper.

Admitted to the Georgia bar in 1998, Strickland was disbarred less than eight years later after he failed to respond to charges that he accepted money from clients for work he never performed, the Atlanta newspaper reports.
