A New York judge has cited a New York lawyer’s $200,000 salary as a reason to deny him interim attorney fees during divorce proceedings.

The lawyer is a tax associate at a major New York law firm identified as C.K., the New York Law Journal reports. His wife is a theology professor who received $306,000 from a family trust last year.

"The court, at this juncture, is loathe to find an associate at a major New York City firm who admits to working 40 hour per weeks and earning $200,000 in 2007, a non-monied spouse entitled to pendente lite counsel fees," wrote Judge Jeffrey Sunshine.
