DLA Piper Axes 124 in UK Offices

After earlier layoff announcements concerning attorneys in its United States, Asia and Dubai offices, DLA Piper is now officially wielding the ax in the United Kingdom, too.
Concluding "redundancy" consultations announced in February, the firm has terminated 24 "fee-earners" and 100 support staff in the U.K., reports Legal Week.
"Under the circumstance, we are pleased that we were able to contain the number of redundancies in the U.K., over a third of which were voluntary," says David Bradley, the United Kingdom managing partner for the firm.
The "voluntary redundancy" severance package was controversial, because many DLA Piper lawyers who stepped up reportedly felt they weren't getting as much from the firm as they should have received
