Ex-Chief Counsel Censured After Camera Catches Cafeteria Food Theft

The former chief counsel at nylon and spandex maker Invista has received a public censure after a camera caught him stealing food from his company cafeteria.
Troy Ellis was disciplined by the Kansas Supreme Court for the 2007 cafeteria caper at Invista’s Wichita office, the National Law Journal reports. Ellis, who was forced to resign from the company, said at his disciplinary hearing that he planned to pay for the food when he returned from a business trip.
"I think I was just overworked," he said. Ellis had worked for the company for six years and had just received the biggest promotion of his career before a video camera caught him taking food without paying, the story says.
The camera was installed after cafeteria cashiers reported that Ellis had loaded his tray with food eight times within a five-day span in September 2007, then walked past them without paying, according to the story.
