First-Year Law Student is also a Porn Star

Porn star Anita Cannibal is a 1L at the West Los Angeles School of Law.

Cannibal goes by the name Traci Bryant in real life, Legal Blog Watch reports, citing the Bitter Lawyer blog. She is attending law school to fight for better health and safety for adult film performers.

“Traci, 38, manages to do more in one week than the average law student does in a semester,” reports Bitter Lawyer author Maria de Cesare of Latham & Watkins. “A typical week includes a few property and con law classes at the University of West Los Angeles School of Law, a girl-on-girl shoot for Wicked Pictures in a ranch house deep in the Valley, and a few editing sessions for the upcoming documentary she’s producing, Porn Star Goes to Law School."

De Cesare wrote an article on worker health and safety in the adult film industry, leading to her first meeting with Bryant.

Bryant was also featured in a Sun Dial article about her undergraduate life at California State University.

The profession needs more porn actors, strippers, drug dealers and users, and other democratizing agents in it.  We would finally start to resemble the population we’re supposed to be representing and law would actually begin to resemble real life.

    Where’s Ellen B? the feminazi!

Do we really need a new lawyer who’s resume talents hightlight “recent stints at the Chicken Ranch brothel in Nevada, “sword swallowing” as a special skill, and starring roles in over 130 films, including Nurse Orgy 5 and Titty Titty Bang Bang”???

While the legal profession is not what it used to be when I signed up, the bar ethics people will have to think long and hard before deciding wither to let this “sword swallower” in as a member.

Personally, I don’t think it will make a big difference, but wanted to lay it out for others to ponder.

I think the gal is just trying to make a living; the question we must ask is whether she will be a credit to the profiession or whether she should focus her attention on another goal.

I vote give this gal a chance.  The Lord knows we as lawyers need a more attractive public persona, and this gal may provide it for us.  It is better that one sinner be cured than 1000 sinners continue on.  If, by virtue of the law practice, we reduce the number of sinners by one, then we will only have 999 to go.  In my city, that is a low number.  With this person not filiming any more smut, we will be in a better place. Here’s some wonderful pictures of Anita.

JBZ asks whether she’ll be a “credit to the profession”.

After the likes of David Addington, a lawyer considers S&M that may involve major organ failure to be fun and all-American, surely a simple stripper can do no further damage to the profession?

I think we MUST be fair to Ms. Bryant.  And NO ONE is asking any of us to VOTE on whether she would be a Credit to the Profession?  Was that the standard that was used when WE were going through law school?  NO, it WAS NOT.

You are all critising Ms. Bryant—why?  Because she’s a WOMAN trying to improve herself.  That’s the only thing that’s sinful.  Not that she was in the movies before becoming a lawyer.  All of us are trying to improve, but it’s ALWAYS THE MEN THAT ARE VOTING TO KEEP US DOWN.

WHO WAS STARRING N ALL OF THESE MOVIES WITH MS BRYANT???  Yes, MEN.  MEN CO-STARS, MEN PRODUCING, MEN DIRECTING, ETC, ETC.

No one here is condemming any of these MEN!!  Yet, when Ms. Bryant is going to law school, it’s the MEN that are all self ritcheous about it.  I’ll bet $5 that most of the men have been to the theater and seen Ms. Bryant in one of her films.  Men are always there to drool or defile the women, but when it comes to promoting them—forget it.  Such hypocracy!

My boyfriend agrees with me that a woman’s past should have no bearing on her future and that is why I respect him and he respects me.  There should be no double standards between men and women and there should be no discrimination either.  Why is it so difficult for men to understand this?  Its not that complecated.  I hope you guys finally get it.

    ellen,

The article says that she’s doing a girl on girl shoot this week.  How does a man star in a girl on girl shoot again?

  9. Posted by HVB - 2 months, 3 weeks, 6 days, 22 hours ago

Ellen, I woul dhave the same concerns and reservations if a male porn star signed up to take the bar. It’s troubling.  There is nothing in the article or comments that suggests gender is an issue.

Why the fuss?  Give Ellen a break. She means well.  Besides, this woman is not competition for any competent lawyer.

Compared to most people my age I can be something of a prude, morally conservative, I have a problem with what she does, etc., but I don’t understand why it troubles people she’s going to law school.

She gets vilified for legal behavior with consenting adults. There are all sorts of lawyers who e.g. arguably commit perjury or actually violate professional ethics or are improperly named as executors and beneficiaries for elderly clients, or even (if I recall correctly) in one California case attempt to kill a client and only get suspended for five years, and no-one is up in arms; but this porn performer goes to law school and suddenly many lawyers are offended that “their” profession is being besmirched.
