Former solicitor general Ted Olson, chair of Rudy Giuliani's justice advisory committee, has switched his support to John McCain after the withdrawal of his candidate from the presidential race.

Olson praised McCain’s views on judicial nominees, reports the Chicago Tribune blog, The Swamp.

“John McCain has a deep-rooted conservative philosophy and I trust him to appoint strict constructionists, like Chief Justice Roberts and Justices Scalia, Thomas and Alito, to judicial positions," Olson said in a statement.

The blog says Olson could be on McCain’s list of possible Supreme Court nominees if he wins the election.
