FTC Enforcer Moves to Linklaters

After rumors that he was leaving the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, reports emerged Thursday that Jeffrey Schmidt is indeed on the move.

Schmidt, director of the FTC's Bureau of Competition, is becoming an antitrust partner at Linklaters in New York City, Reuters reports.

The news agency reports that Schmidt said it was "the right time for me to return to private practice."

Taking Schmidt's place, at least in the interim, will be David Wales, who has served as deputy director since 2006, according to an FTC release.
