A municipal court clerk in Georgia has been accused of stealing more than $121,000 in court deposits after an audit found money missing since 2003.

Patricia Regina Wilcurt, who was a $28,000-a-year employee for the court in Austell, was charged with theft and making a false written statement to a government entity, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Austell Mayor Joe Jerkins told the Journal-Constitution that Wilcurt initially confessed to stealing a smaller amount after a routine audit found that deposit records submitted to the city did not match the court’s deposit records, the story says. Wilcurt said she used the money to pay her bills, Jerkins told the publication.
