Gangster Museum Reopens After Dillinger Nephew Settles Suit

American gangster history enthusiasts will get a chance to explore the life and times of the notorious John Dillinger.
The Dillinger Museum reopened Friday in Hammond, Ind., after a long-fought court battle between local tourism officials and Dillinger's great-nephew Jeffery Scalf, the Post-Tribune reports.
Scalf, who owns Dillinger LLC, which licenses the gangster's image, filed suit in 2001 to prevent the museum from displaying Dillinger artifacts, the Times of Northwest Indiana reports.
No settlement details were released. But the decision to settle came two days after filming wrapped up in Crown Point for Public Enemies, a movie featuring Johnny Depp as John Dillinger. The movie is expected to rekindle interest in Dillinger.
