Authorities conducting a multiple murder investigation searched a suburban Chicago home yesterday to see if the family watched a recent episode of the television show "Law and Order."

Sources told the Chicago Tribune that Illinois State Police are trying to find out if the family had seen the May 8 episode, whose plot is similar to the crime they are investigating. Four members of the Vaughn family were shot to death on June 14, and a fifth, Chris Vaughn, 32, suffered at least one gunshot wound and is reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

The dead are Vaughn's wife, 34, and their three children, aged 12, 11 and 8. The bodies of the four were found in the family's sports-utility vehicle in Channahon, near their Oswego home in a distant Chicago suburb, after Chris Vaughn flagged a down a passerby and asked him to call 911.
