Inmate, 94, a ‘Threat to Society’

California’s oldest inmate, 94, is still considered a threat to society.

The Los Angeles Times reports that John Rodriguez, convicted of murder for stabbing his wife 26 times in 1981, has been recommended for parole six times. Three different governors have refused, calling him a threat to society.

State voters gave governors the power to overrule parole board recommendations for lifers in 1988. Fewer such prisoners are being released as a result.

Rodriguez uses a walker, is hard of hearing and is forgetful.
