Insurance Brokerage: Possible Industry Bribery Issues

An insurance brokerage says it is receiving inquiries from federal investigators about possible bribery issues.

And it doesn't appear that Aon Corp. is the only such company being queried, reports Bloomberg.

Aon has reportedly hired an unspecified law firm to look into the matter and make sure it is in compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other laws here in the U.S. and elsewhere.

The inquiries were made by the Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission and "appear to relate not only to us but to others in the industry as well," says David Prosperi, a company spokesman. "We take issues like this very seriously. We intend to get to the bottom of it as quickly as we can."
