Irked Client Publicly Zings Counsel

Apparently unsuccessful in an effort to contest a $342,000 legal bill in court, the owners of a bankrupt construction company have taken their complaints over the way a big Buffalo, N.Y., law firm handled their case to the court of public opinion.

A billboard, a website, flyers distributed to area law students and e-mails to other law firms are the methods that have been used by David and Daniel Elia to alert the local legal community and general public to their unhappiness with Damon & Morey, according to the Buffalo News. The two were formerly principals of now-defunct D.A. Elia Construction Co. in Niagara Falls, N.Y.

Damon & Morey is exploring its legal options, says Peter Marlette, the firm's managing partner.
